Descripción
Sumario:The objective of this study was to assess the effectiveness of a role-play-based learner training program to improve Basic I students’ English oral communication skills at Microsystems Institution in Iquitos 2021. The research is of an evaluative type with field study, contemporary transectional, univariate and quasi-experimental designs, with pre-test, post-test, and control group. The population consisted of 40 students with a non-probabilistic sample of 20 students: 10 students in the experimental group and 10 students in the control group. After analyzing the results of the post-test, it was determined that the mean score of the experimental group is higher than that of the control group in English oral communication skills (15.898 > 9,670); its components: listening (18,167 >13,367) and speaking (14,724 > 7,759); and its dimensions: Getting information (18,391 > 13,435), inference and interpretation (17,429 > 13,143), use of nonverbal and paraverbal resources (14,875 > 8,000), strategic interaction (14,667 > 7,667). It is concluded that the role-play-based learner training program improves significantly the study population’s English oral communication skills, accepting the working hypothesis as p-value = 0,000 < α = 0,05.
