Departamento Académico de Economía y PlanificaciónEl café en grano es uno de los productos alimentarios más importantes del mundo, por lo que esta actividad económica genera unos 125 millones de puestos de trabajo en América Latina, África y Asia. En el caso del Perú, este producto es, históricamente, el bien agrícola con mayor valor de exportación. De acuerdo a lo anterior, el objetivo de esta investigación es evaluar las principales variables que influyeron en la oferta exportable del café en el Perú, en el período 2012 – 2023. La metodología contempló el análisis de correlación y de regresión lineal multivariado, así como la construcción de una matriz de ponderación, selección y jerarquización de mercados de destino para el café peruano a nivel internacional. Los resultados muestran que el precio recibido por el productor y la producción nacional son las variables que tienen efectos significativos en la dinámica de exportación de café. Los efectos marginales de estas variables, son de S/. 6 696 y S/. 265 575, respectivamente. Asimismo, de acuerdo al análisis de los principales factores que explican la dinámica del valor de exportación del café peruano, según país de destino, se corroboró que EEUU y Alemania son los destinos más importantes para el café peruano. El PBI per cápita y el tamaño de población son los factores que sustentan este hallazgo. Finalmente, se concluye que el café se mantiene como el principal producto agrícola de exportación en el Perú, puesto que la participación del valor FOB de exportación de café ha oscilado entre un 8.16% y 13.71% del valor FOB de las agroexportaciones totales, representando un promedio de 10.42%, en el período 2016 – 2023. Por ello, se recomienda ampliar investigaciones, respecto de los efectos sociales y económicos derivados de esta actividad.Coffee beans are one of the most important food products in the world, and this economic activity generates some 125 million jobs in Latin America, Africa and Asia. In the case of Peru, this product is, historically, the agricultural good with the highest export value. Therefore, the aim of this research is to evaluate the main variables that influenced the exportable supply of coffee in Peru, in the period 2012 - 2023.
