Maestría en Producción AgrícolaCon los objetivos de conocer, la biología y la evolución en el manejo agronómico del cultivo de “marigold” en el Perú y el mundo; el manejo postcosecha para la producción de harina y oleorresina; las ventajas y limitaciones del cultivo y su potencial futuro en el Perú, la rentabilidad en comparación con otros cultivos y la validación para el control de nemátodos; se realizó la presente investigación en los valles de Chao, Virú y Santa Catalina durante los años 2002-2006. La información técnica sobre la evolución del manejo agronómico se obtuvo a través de las experiencias de los productores y empresarios de la zona, Herbarios Truxillensis de la Universidad Nacional de Trujillo, Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego así como de publicaciones científicas relacionados con esta planta. Se concluye que al origen de esta planta le atribuyen diversos países como México, Guatemala, África, India y países latinoamericanos. El manejo agronómico de este cultivo en nuestro país ha ido progresando de acuerdo a las distintas localidades de siembra. En comparación con otros cultivos, el marigold tiene un alto valor agregado, que permite obtener una mayor rentabilidad. En rotación con el cultivo de tomate, se ha determinado la disminución de poblaciones de fitonemátodos debido a la acción antagónica de sus exudados radicularesWith the objectives of knowing, the biology and the evolution in the agronomic handling of the cultivation of "marigold" in the Peru and the world; the handling postcosecha for the production of flour and oleorresina; the advantages and limitations of the cultivation and their future potential in the Peru, the profitability in comparison with other cultivations and the validation for the nemátodos control; was carried out the present investigation in the valleys of Chao, Virú and Santa Catalina during the years 2002-2006.
