Departamento Académico de NutriciónEl presente trabajo evaluó el uso de la prueba Flukefinder® como diagnóstico para fasciolosis hepática en vacunos lecheros de los distritos de Nueve de Julio y Matahuasi, Provincia de Concepción, Junín. Se colectaron 254 muestras de heces de vacunos lecheros durante los meses de noviembre y diciembre del 2014, y enero del 2015. Las muestras fueron procesadas mediante la prueba Flukefinder® y la prueba de Dennis modificada para determinar la presencia o ausencia de huevos de Fasciola hepatica en heces, la prevalencia (%) y las cargas parasitarias mediante la cuantificación de huevos por gramo de heces (HPG). Se utilizó la prueba de Chi-cuadrado para comparar las proporciones de muestras fecales positivas obtenidas con ambas pruebas. Los promedios de HPG de ambas técnicas fueron comparados usando la prueba de Wilcoxon. Asimismo, se determinó la sensibilidad y especificidad de la prueba Flukefinder® considerando a la prueba de Dennis modificada como prueba de referencia. Se encontraron prevalencias de F. hepatica de 63.4-89.4 % con la prueba Dennis modificada y 73.2-97.9 % con la prueba Flukefinder® durante los tres meses de muestreo. Respecto a la cantidad total de muestras positivas a F. hepatica, no se encontraron diferencias significativas (p = 0.225) entre los casos reportados por la prueba de Dennis modificada (77.6 %; 197/254) y la prueba de Flukefinder® (81.9 %; 208/254). Se encontraron diferencias significativas (p < 0.05) entre los promedios de HPG colectados con la prueba de Dennis modificada (4.42 HPG) y la prueba Flukefinder® (5.66 HPG). La sensibilidad y especificidad de la prueba Flukefinder® fue de 89.85% y 45.61%, respectivamente. Se concluye que la prueba Flukefinder® es una buena alternativa para el diagnóstico de fasciolosis hepática en vacunos debido a su eficacia en la detección de huevos de F. hepatica en heces, así como por su practicidad y facilidad de empleo.The present research evaluated the use of flukefinder® test as a diagnosis for fasciolosis in dairy cattle from Nueve de Julio and Matahuasi districts, Concepción Province, Junín. 254 dairy cattle feces were collected during November and December 2014, and January 2015. Samples were processed using Flukefinder® test and Modified Dennis test to determine the presence or absence of Fasciola hepatica eggs in feces, the prevalence (%) and the parasite loads by quantifying eggs per gram of stool (EPG).
