Materiales y Métodos: se desarrollará un estudio con enfoque cuantitativo, de diseño no experimental, corte transversal y alcance descriptivo-correlacional. La población estará compuesta por 180 pacientes adultos atendidos en el servicio de urgencias, de los cuales se seleccionará una muestra de 123 mediante muestreo probabilístico. El nivel de dolor se medirá con la Escala Numérica del Dolor (0–10) y la dependencia funcional con el Índice de Barthel (0–100), ambos instrumentos validados y de alta fiabilidad. La recolección de datos se realizará mediante encuesta estructurada y la información será procesada con el software SPSS, utilizando estadística descriptiva e inferencial. Resultados: se pronostica identificar que la mayor parte de los pacientes presenta dolor de intensidad moderada, coexistiendo en algunos casos con dependencia funcional moderada o grave. Se espera encontrar asociación estadísticamente significativa entre mayor intensidad de dolor y mayor grado de dependencia funcional. Conclusiones: los resultados brindarán evidencia útil para fortalecer protocolos de atención en urgencias, priorizando intervenciones que reduzcan el dolor y mejoren la funcionalidad de los pacientes, optimizando así la recuperación y calidad del cuidado brindado.

Materials and methods: a quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional study with a descriptive-correlational scope will be conducted. The study population will consist of 180 adult patients treated in the emergency department, from which a sample of 123 will be selected through probabilistic sampling. Pain intensity will be assessed using the Numerical Rating Scale (0–10) and functional dependence using the Barthel Index (0–100), both validated instruments with high reliability. Data will be collected through a structured survey, and statistical analysis will be performed using SPSS software, applying descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: it is anticipated that the majority of patients will present with moderate pain intensity, in some cases accompanied by moderate or severe functional dependence. A statistically significant association is expected between higher pain intensity and greater functional dependence.
