description Este estudio tiene como objetivo determinar el cuidado de enfermería en pacientes con infecciones del tracto urinario asociadas al sondaje vesical en la unidad de cuidados intensivos del Hospital Antonio Lorena, Cusco, Perú, durante el año 2025. Para ello, se empleará una metodología cuantitativa con un diseño no experimental de tipo transversal y un enfoque descriptivo. Con una población a estudiar estará conformada por la totalidad del personal de enfermería (35 profesionales) que laborará en dicha unidad, aplicándose por tanto un muestreo censal. La recopilación de datos se realizará a través del método de la encuesta, utilizándose como instrumento un cuestionario bien desarrollado que constará de 43 ítems distribuidos en tres dimensiones: el proceso de inserción del catéter (13 preguntas), las acciones de mantenimiento (18 preguntas) y el protocolo de retiro del dispositivo (12 preguntas). Los datos obtenidos serán procesados y presentados mediante tablas de distribución sociodemográfica y gráficas estadísticas, acompañadas de un análisis cuantitativo que permitirá identificar los patrones de cuidado que serán aplicados directamente por los enfermeros. Finalmente, las conclusiones de esta investigación proporcionarán información valiosa basada en evidencia científica actualizada, la cual podrá ser utilizada para optimizar los protocolos de atención, así como mejorar las técnicas de manejo del cateterismo vesical y, en consecuencia, reducir la frecuencia de infecciones urinarias vinculadas a este procedimiento en pacientes en estado críticos.

A quantitative methodology will be employed, using a non-experimental, cross-sectional design with a descriptive approach. The study population will consist of the entire nursing staff (35 professionals) working in the aforementioned unit, with a census sampling technique being applied. Data collection will be carried out through the survey technique, using a structured questionnaire composed of 43 items distributed across three dimensions: the catheter insertion process (13 questions), maintenance actions (18 questions), and the catheter removal protocol (12 questions). The data obtained will be processed and presented through sociodemographic distribution tables and statistical graphs, accompanied by a quantitative analysis that will identify the care patterns applied by the nursing staff.
