Es de mucha utilidad en el deporte. Por esta razón es necesario un buen conocimiento de la anatomía y de la biomecánica y así, aplicarlo de forma correcta. Su finalidad, entendida desde el punto de vista lesional y evolutivo, puede ser terapéutica, cuando forma parte del plan de tratamiento de la lesión, o preventiva, en casos en los que se persigue evitar el daño o la recidiva.

It is said to be partial because it selectively limits the movement where the pain appears or to where the lesion worsens, but on the contrary allows the rest of the movements.
