description El presente estudio de investigación es cuantitativo, descriptivo-explicativo, transversal, con población de 420 madres utilizando una muestra de 60 unidades, donde el muestreo fue probabilístico. Para la recolección de datos se utilizó la encuesta estructurada. Resultados y conclusiones: al asociar las variables el conocimiento teórico de las madres sobre estimulación temprana en lactantes es intermedio y la práctica es adecuada, donde solo la parte cognitiva – coordinación (63.2%) y la socio-emocional (54.8%) son consideradas como influyentes en la práctica. En las recomendaciones el área cognitiva – coordinación se debe incorporar actividades educativas grupales que incluya talleres, sesiones demostrativas a las madres, padres o cuidadores de los niños menores de tres años sobre estimulación temprana, haciendo operativo lo que el Ministerio de Salud propone dentro la Norma Técnica de atención al niño menor de 5 años. Para el área socio-emocional se debe considerar promover la formación continua de líderes de la comunidad a través de encargadas de Clubes de Madres, Vaso de Leche, Comedores Populares para que dentro de sus agrupaciones de base se puedan capacitar y crear talleres de estimulación temprana; en el área social y lenguaje garantizar el equilibrio en la estimulación temprana mejorando el estado afectivo emocional de los niños.
