Urbina, responsable de la asignatura.La relación entre el gasto militar y el crecimiento económico se ha estudiado desde finales de los años 60 aproximadamente. Es posible dilucidar cómo afecta al empleo, específicamente en los países desarrollados, aquellos cuya participación en las guerras tiene cierta recurrencia o son capaces de financiarlos. Un resultado que debe mencionarse es que existe un efecto negativo tanto en el crecimiento económico como en el empleo en estos países debido a una aceleración del gasto militar. En este contexto, el gasto militar se da como un factor externo que es elegido por los gobiernos de acuerdo con los factores sociales en lugar de los factores económicos o el comportamiento militar.
