| Sumario: | Objective: To determine the association between sleep quality and food frequency in girls and boys of the first grade of the Educational Institution "Coronel Néstor Escudero Otero". Methodology: Research with a quantitative, analytical, correlational and cross-sectional approach. Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI): Version for schoolchildren (6 to 13 years old) were applied to parents of first-grade children. To determine the association, Pearson and Spearman correlation test was used. Also, the multiple linear regression statistical test was used to evaluate the dependency relationship of the healthy eating index by sleep quality variable. Results: It is reported that 75% of the girls and 78.72% of the boys of the first grade of the I.E. Colonel Néstor Escudero Otero needs changes in their diet according to the Healthy Eating Index. 25% of girls and 14.89% of boys have poor sleep quality. A slight negative correlation was found between PSQI and fruit score (r = -0.2455, p = 0.0253) and a slight positive correlation (r = 0.2211, p = 0.0445) between sleep hours and dairy products frequency score. Conclusion: No association was found between sleep quality and the frequency and food consumption in the evaluated population, when was adjusted for body mass index, level education and age of parents. |
