The research titled Family Functioning and Alcohol Consumption on students from a alternative basic education center in Lima tried to determine the relationship between family functioning and alcohol consumption on a sample of alternative basic education students, on night shift, from 2017 to 2018. It was designed as a descriptive correlational and comparative cross-sectional study. The instruments applied to the 89 students were the FACES III, the AUDIT, and a personal characteristics sheet. The results obtained through the statistical tests don’t show evidence that there is an association between family functioning and alcohol consumption on this population. In detail, no association was found between the family cohesion dimension and alcohol consumption; however, the family adaptability dimension was indeed correlated to alcohol consumption. Furthermore, there was evidence of a relationship between family functioning and alcohol consumption type, classified by the AUDIT as risky consumption, on students who were between 21 to 30 years old.
