La atención del trauma maxilofacial en los diferentes servicios de cirugía maxilofacial no fue ajena y también se vio afectada; evidenciándose escasez de información respecto a los cambios en la prevalencia de las fracturas mandibulares a nivel mundial. Objetivo: Determinar los cambios en la prevalencia de las fracturas mandibulares previo y durante el transcurso de la pandemia COVID-19 en el Hospital Militar Central en el periodo comprendido enero 2015 a diciembre 2022. Materiales y métodos: Estudio observacional, descriptivo y retrospectivo con población de 120 historias clínicas de pacientes con diagnóstico de fracturas faciales entre 2015 y 2022, y muestra final de 70 historias clínicas. Se aplicaron análisis estadísticos descriptivos. Resultados: En el periodo comprendido entre enero 2015 a diciembre 2022 se presentaron un total de 70 fracturas mandibulares, 53 (75.70%) en el periodo 2015-2019 y 17 (24.30%) en el periodo 2020-2022. Conclusión: El número de fracturas mandibulares en el Hospital Militar Central entre enero 2015 a diciembre 2022 se redujo al comparar los periodos previo y durante el transcurso de la pandemia por la COVID-19.

In 2020, the emergence of SARS-CoV-2 generated the pandemic by COVID-19 disease, this resulted in limitations in health care resources, and attention was focused on reducing cross-contamination and preventing spread events. Maxillofacial trauma care in the different maxillofacial surgery services was not spared and was also affected; evidencing scarcity of information regarding changes in the prevalence of mandibular fractures worldwide. Objective: To determine changes in the prevalence of mandibular fractures before and during the course of the COVID-19 pandemic at the Central Military Hospital in the period from January 2015 to December 2022. Materials and methods: Observational, descriptive and retrospective study with population of 120 medical records of patients diagnosed with facial fractures between 2015 and 2022, and final sample of 70 medical records. Descriptive statistical analyses were applied. Results: A total of 70 mandibular fractures occurred in the period from January 2015 to December 2022, 53 (75.70%) in the period 2015-2019 and 17 (24.30%) in the period 2020-2022.
