Introducción: El conocimiento de las lesiones orales y maxilofaciales, como los tumores y quistes odontogénicos, a través de estudios epidemiológicos, representa un papel importante en la salud pública, pues revela información relacionada con su distribución en función de determinadas características inherentes a los grupos poblacionales de estudio. Objetivo: Determinar la frecuencia de tumores odontogénicos benignos (TOB) y quistes odontogénicos (QO) en el Servicio de Odontoestomatología del Hospital Nacional Edgardo Rebagliati Martins (HNERM) entre 2018 y 2022. Materiales y métodos: Estudio retrospectivo de corte transversal, con una muestra conformada por la totalidad de historias clínicas de pacientes que recibieron atención en la Unidad de Cirugía Bucal y Maxilofacial del Servicio de Odontoestomatología del HNERM entre 2018 y 2022, con diagnóstico de TOB o QO. Se consideró como variables a los TOB y QO; y covariables: tipo de entidad, localización, sexo, edad y año. Se realizó un análisis descriptivo para presentar frecuencias absolutas y relativas. Resultados: En el período comprendido entre 2018 y 2022, se registraron 96 casos de TOB y QO en el Servicio de Odontoestomatología del HNERM. El 30.21% (n=29) correspondieron a TOB. Los QO representaron el 69.79% (n=67). Conclusión: El estudio detectó una frecuencia de TOB y QO en el Servicio de Odontoestomatología del HNERM entre 2018 y 2022 con predominio de los QO sobre los TOB, siendo el quiste dentígero la lesión más común. La mandíbula, especialmente la región molar, fue la zona más afectada; siendo adultos jóvenes el grupo etario principal y observándose ligero predominio femenino. Las fluctuaciones anuales, incluido un descenso en 2020 vinculado a la pandemia, refuerzan la necesidad de garantizar acceso continuo a diagnóstico temprano y manejo oportuno. |

Objective: To determine the frequency of benign odontogenic tumors (BOT) and odontogenic cysts (OC) in the Odontostomatology Service of the Edgardo Rebagliati Martins National Hospital (HNERM) between 2018 and 2022. Materials and methods: A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted, with a sample consisting of all medical records of patients who received care at the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Unit of the Odontostomatology Service of the HNERM between 2018 and 2022, with diagnosis of BOT or OC. The variables considered were the BOT and OC; and the covariates were the type of entity, location, sex, age, and year. A descriptive analysis was performed to present absolute and relative frequencies. Results: During the period from 2018 to 2022, 96 cases of BOT and OC were recorded in the Odontostomatology Service of the HNERM. BOT accounted for 30.21% (n=29). OC represented 69.79% (n=67). Conclusion: The study detected a frequency of BOT and OC in the Dental and Stomatology Departament of the HNERM between 2018 and 2022, with predominating over BOT, and dentigerous cysts being the most common lesion. The mandible, especially the molar region, was the most affected area; young adults were the main age group, and there was a slight female predominance.
