description La presente monografía tiene como objetivo describir las intervenciones de enfermería para prevenir infecciones en el sitio operatorio en el centro quirúrgico. La metodología fue descriptiva y se realizó una revisión minuciosa de diversos artículos científicos basados en el tema desde el año 2004 al 2020. Asimismo, los criterios de inclusión fueron temas relacionados con el objetivo, años de antigüedad y revistas científicas sobre intervenciones de enfermería existentes para lograr prevenir y evitar infecciones, riesgos y falencias en el sitio operatorio en el centro quirúrgico. Entonces, el análisis efectuado dio a conocer la importancia del profesional de enfermería en el centro quirúrgico, pues este personaje contribuye de forma directa e indirecta durante todo el procedimiento de cirugía, logrando identificar los riesgo y errores que puedan ocasionar una mala comunicación entre el equipo o una mala verificación de los instrumentos requeridos en base al procedimiento quirico que se realiza. También, se detalla la importancia de que el profesional cuente con las aptitudes suficientes y desarrolladas para identificar los factores de riesgo en el centro operatorio y disminuir las infecciones o contaminación, las cuales pueden ocasionar severas consecuencias. Se concluye que el profesional de enfermería debe implementar sus aptitudes basadas en técnicas científicas y regidas bajo la normativa protocolar que existe en el establecimiento de salud, lo cual se verá reflejado con la ética y los valores que desenvolverá para garantizar un servicio de calidad, seguridad y responsabilidad.

The methodology was descriptive and a thorough review of various scientific articles based on the topic was carried out from 2004 to 2020. Likewise, the inclusión criteria were related to the objective, years of seniority and scientific journals on existing nursing interventions to prevent and avoid infections, risks and failures in the operating site in the surgical center. Then, the analysis carried out revealed the importance of the nursing professional in the surgical center, because this character contributes directly and indirectly during the entire surgery procedure, identifying the risks and errors that may cause poor communication between the equipment or poor verification of the required instruments based on the surgical procedure performed. It also details the importance of the professional having sufficient and developed skills to identify risk factors in the operating center and to reduce infections or contamination, which can cause severe consequences.
