Resultados: se analizaron un total 149 historias clínicas, el 55,7% (n=83) pertenecieron al sexo femenino y 44,3% (n=66) al sexo masculino. El porcentaje de hábitos orales fue del 38,93%, siendo lo más frecuente deglución atípica (21,48%), interposición labial (10,07%) y respiración bucal (8,72%). Dentro de las alteraciones dentoalveolares en el plano transversal se encontró mordida cruzada anterior (30,20%); en el plano vertical mordida profunda (24,16%) y en el plano sagital, maloclusión clase I (57,72%), maloclusión clase II (23,49%) y maloclusión clase III (18,79%). Respecto a alteraciones dentoalveolares congénitas se encontró pieza permanente ausente (17,45%); y en otras alteraciones adquiridas, desviación de línea media (79,87%) y apiñamiento dental (77,86%). Conclusiones: la deglución atípica fue el hábito oral más frecuente. otras alteraciones dentoalveolares más frecuentes fueron mordida cruzada anterior, mordida profunda, maloclusión clase I, pieza permanente ausente y desviación de línea media.

Materials and methods: The study was descriptive, cross-sectional and retrospective study. Children’s orthodontic medical records between 7 to 12 years were revised. Results: 149 dental records were reviewed, 55.7% (n = 83) female and 44.3% (n = 66) were male. The prevalence of oral habits was 38.93%, the most frequent habits were tongue thrusting (21.48%), lip sucking (10.07%) and mouth breathing (8.72%). Transverse anomalies such as anterior crossbite (30.20%), vertical anomalies like deep bite (24.16%) and sagittal anomalies, such as class I malocclusion (57.72%), class II malocclusion (23.49%) and class III malocclusion (18.79%) were found. The congenital dentoalveolar alterations found was, absent permanent tooth (17.45%); and in other acquired alterations, midline deviation (79.87%), and dental crowding (77.86%). Conclusions: tongue thrust is the most frequent oral habit.
