Descripción
Sumario:Objective: To establish the relationship between the nutritional status of the child and the social factors of the family. Methods: Non-experimental, descriptive, cross-sectional study. The sample consisted of 140 children subject to inclusion and exclusion criteria. A structured questionnaire with acceptable validity and reliability was used through the survey; later, through observation, a clinical record was applied with inter-observer calibration with adequate concordance for the calculation of the Body Mass Index (BMI). Main Results: Social factors such as separated marital status and secondary education level and their relationship with the child's overweight show a statistical significance of 0.026 and 0.017 respectively. Conclusions: The most outstanding BMI classification in the population studied was overweight. Social factors such as "separated" marital status and "secondary" education level have statistical significance to establish a relationship with the child's overweight, unlike the origin, employment situation of the parent and the child's health insurance.
