Finally, we gather various scholars’ comments of this Arequipean poet who is undoubtedly a controversial but fundamental one within our literary process.El presente ensayo dedicado al vate arequipeño Alberto Hidalgo nos invita a reflexionar sobre la obra de este notable iniciador de la vanguardia que tendría al Perú como eje de su verbo creador. En una visión panorámica veremos de qué manera la poesía de este vate fue evolucionando desde varios ángulos: Simplismo, Yoísmo, expresión nacional. Damos cuenta, también, de las características de la vanguardia y de su correlativa diferencia con la poesía de hoy.
