With this text, we seek to enter into the complexity of thinking about the city today, the contemporary city and its constant growth and sensation of change. For this, eight keys or topics are outlined and allow their understanding, being generic enough so that the reader can translate them and contrast them with their own urban reality.El artículo aborda la dicotomía polis / civitas como origen del significado de la ciudad. Las relaciones de pertenencia al lugar, en este caso, determinan una serie de acciones que son guiadas tanto por las condiciones tangibles como por las intangibles, es decir, se determinan entre las construcciones y las personas. Con este texto, se busca entrar en la complejidad de pensar la ciudad el día de hoy, la ciudad contemporánea y su constante desarrollo y sensación de cambio.
