A mixed methodological strategy was employed, involving documentary review techniques (to obtain statistical data) and interviews (to gather testimonies from teachers in the Communication area) —made in 2020— to delve into the perceptions and experiences of students regarding classroom assessment processes and the ECE development processes. The analysis of the data led to the conclusion that the reasons for the differences in results are primarily due to pedagogical factors on the one hand, and emotional factors on the other, specifically the stress and fatigue experienced by students when facing an assessment like the ECE.Este estudio se enfocó en el análisis de las posibles causas pedagógicas de las diferencias entre los resultados obtenidos por los/las estudiantes de segundo de secundaria de dos instituciones educativas rurales de Tacna en la Evaluación Censal de Estudiantes (ECE) y en la evaluación formativa de la Competencia 8 (Lee diversos tipos de textos escritos en lengua materna) realizadas en el año 2019 en el aula y reflejada en las actas finales anuales. Se empleó una estrategia metodológica mixta, con técnicas de revisión documental (para la obtención de datos estadísticos), y realización de entrevistas (para la obtención de testimonios por parte de los/las docentes del área de Comunicación) —las mismas que se realizaron durante el 2020— para profundizar en las percepciones y experiencias de los/las estudiantes en relación a los procesos de evaluación en el aula y los procesos de desarrollo de la ECE.
