| Sumario: | This study compiles updated information related to the sanitary aspects of bivalve mollusks and shrimp in Peru. The purpose was to determine the action needs of aquaculture health professionals, focusing on the generation of new knowledge and innovation that benefit the fishing and aquaculture sector through the training of human capital and the development of technologies for the diagnosis of diseases in aquatic animals. Likewise, the importance of health in the production of bivalve mollusks and prawns is disclosed, concluding that so far in Peru there are few investigations carried out and consequently there is not enough evidence to assess the establishment of health programs. To deal with endemic diseases in our country. The study determines that the main aquaculture production species in Peru are scallops (Argopecten purpuratus), white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei), rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) and tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus); and that the volumes of extraction of fishery resources and production of resources from aquaculture demonstrate the need to strengthen research activities in these sectors. This is due to the fact that research in the area of health of bivalve mollusks and prawns, from fishing or aquaculture, is scarce, developed in isolation and in insufficient quantity. Therefore, it is concluded that it is necessary to make coordinated efforts between the business sector (producers), government entities and the academic sector, with the purpose of carrying out studies that allow obtaining sufficient scientific evidence that entails establishing sanitary programs in order to improve the production and extraction systems of hydro biological resources. |
