description The management of solid dangerous wastes at the Faculty of the Geological, Mining, Metallurgical and Geographical Engineering of the San Marcos National Major University is the first step towards the integration of the environmental system of management at the campus, following standards of quality, for prevention of risks of the health and environment, according to the agenda 21 and the model ISO 14001. This is a pilot project that we implemented and carry out with the participation of students, administrative officers and teachers of the Mining School. This serve as a small laboratory from which the most relevant variable was obtained gathered in order to works adequately the administrative system of pollution waste. We gathered 600 units of dry batteries and alkaline batteries this permitted to avoid the uncontrolled elimination of these pollutants to our environment, due to the great quantity of dangerous substances such as mercury, cadmium, manganese contained by these batteries. This situation makes necessary to realize an adequate management. We obtained a 50% with of mining school students. We also reached the help of the bachelors for this effort. As an added value we are changing habits and customs related to elimination of solid waste pollution residues.

As an added value we are changing habits and customs related to elimination of solid waste pollution residues.La gestión de residuos sólidos peligrosos en la Facultad de Ingenieria Geologica, Minera, Metalurgica y Geografica de la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos representa un primer paso hacia la integración de un sistema de gestión medio ambiental en todo el campus, siguiendo estándares de calidad, de prevención de riesgos en la salud y por supuesto medio ambientales, según la agenda 21 y el modelo marcado por la ISO 14001. Este fue un proyecto a nivel piloto que implementamos y llevamos a cabo con la participacion de los alumnos, docentes y trabajadores administrativos de la Facultad de Ingenieria Geologica, Minera, Metalurgica y Geografica, y que nos servira como un pequeño laboratorio del cual tomaremos nota de variables las más relevantes para que funcione adecuadamente el sistema de gestión de residuos sólidos peligrosos que se propone en el presente proyecto. Recolectamos 600 unidades de pilas y evitamos la eliminación incontrolada de estos residuos sólidos peligros que pudieron ocasionar graves daños al ambiente, debido a la gran cantidad de sustancias peligrosas que contienen tales como mercurio, cadmio, manganeso en las pilas y baterias alcalinas lo que hace preciso implementar medidas para que se recojan independientemente de otras categorías de residuos. Nuestra meta fue realizar una gestión amigable con el medio ambiente y logramos la participación del 50% de los alumnos de la Escuela de Ingeníeria de Minas, tambien logramos la colaboracion de los egresados en la gestión de los residuos sólidos peligrosos (pilas secas).
