The oceanographic conditions showed both the presence of subtropical superficial water until 70 depth and evidence of rich nutrient upwelling to major deepness. The anchovy population was scarcity spread out and forming little cores near the coast, and the juveniles constituted 72% of the population.Se estudiaron las características oceanográficas (temperatura, salinidad, fosfatos y silicatos), volumen de zooplancton, y la abundancia de la anchoa hasta 5 millas lejos de la costa en el sur de Perú (entre Atico y la frontera sur), del 27 de febrero y marzo 3a de 1998. las condiciones oceanográficas mostró tanto la presencia de agua superficial subtropical hasta el 70 de profundidad y la evidencia de la rica afloramiento de nutrientes a gran profundidad.
