Sumario:The objective of the study is to determine the influence of the characteristics, type of use, content of interest, frequency of use and space where mobile devices are used on the communication behavior, such as oral expression, writing and non-verbal communication, of students. It presents a quasi-experimental design, with a sample of 60 students, distributed in two equal groups (experimental and control), to whom a Question Guide was applied, whose answers were analyzed with the ANOVA test and interpreted with data triangulation. The student interacts more with the Smartphone to call, chat on social networks, take photographs and videos, and play; Furthermore, the content of interest that they usually search for through their mobile device is entertainment and employment opportunities, with a prevalence of 29.76 hours per week. Whether it is at school, work, on the street, while traveling or at social gatherings, the student does not hesitate to use his mobile device even when other individuals are present in his physical environment. It was concluded that the use of mobile devices significantly influences the communication behavior, both in the writing of messages, oral expression and non-verbal communication, of students.
