This article aims to synthesize the Ashaninka story based on the review of texts of scientific, social and historical production to understand its current situation. The Ashaninkas throughout the centuries have faced various episodes that have especially focused on history and its identity. One was the commercial and cultural exchange with the Arawak-speaking peoples and the Andean world, evangelization by Dominican and Franciscan missionaries, the colonization of the Peruvian Central Forest, the extraction of rubber and the cultivation of coffee in large estates. Their union and respect for ancestral customs currently characterize them. Its economy is based on hunting, fishing and agriculture.
