The search criteria were originality, open access and international outreach. |

The search criteria were originality, open access and international outreach.El artículo que se presenta es una revisión bibliográfica descriptiva relacionada con el uso que tiene el Aprendizaje Basado en Problemas (ABP) en la educación superior en los últimos cinco años, desde el 2017 al 2021. El objetivo fundamental de esta revisión está centrado en el análisis bibliométrico que permita establecer sus definiciones, ventajas y aplicación en distintas áreas de estudio. A partir de ello, contrastar y dar cuenta sobre cómo esta nueva estrategia se puede incorporar en las universidades. La metodología empleada fue la revisión realizada de manera sistemática y analítica de diversas fuentes de información encontradas en bases de datos, así como en repositorios y algunas revistas indexadas, entre otras como Alicia, Dialnet, Google Académico, Scielo, Scopus y Web of Science.
