Quality of care and adherence to prenatal check-ups among pregnant women at a public obstetric center in Lima, Peru

Objective. To determine the relationship between the quality of care and adherence to prenatal check-ups among pregnant women at a public obstetric center in Lima, Peru. Methods. A quantitative, correlational study with an observational, descriptive, and cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of all pregnant women who attended the obstetric center from Januaryto April, totaling 100 patients. A questionnaire was used to assess the quality of care, and a checklist was used to evaluate adherence. Data were analyzed using Pearson’s chi-square test. Results. 61% of the pregnant women perceived good quality of care and were adherent;23% perceived fair quality of care and were adherent; and 11% perceived poor quality of care and were non-adherent. Conclusions. There is a significant relationship between the quality of care and adherence to prenatal check-ups among pregnant women at a public obstetriccenter in Lima, Peru.
