Data was collected through the content analysis of the texts written by the fans and the use of a questionnaire fulfilled by the same group. Thanks to this information, and with the help of Reception Theory concepts, it was proved how fans become an active audience that produce new content from the appropriation and resignification of the original text. In addition, it became evident the way they consume the canonical story and how they interact with it and its authors.Esta investigación pretende analizar la recepción de una obra literaria y audiovisual dentro de una comunidad online de fans y, a partir de ello, la creación de literatura fan fiction por parte de los miembros de esta comunidad, así como su relación con el autor canónico. A través de la aplicación de encuestas y el análisis de contenidos, se pudo conocer sobre los fans de Juego de Tronos/ASOIAF, su producción de textos, y la forma en la que se relacionan en su comunidad. Gracias a esta información, y a la luz de los conceptos tomados de la Estética de la Recepción, se determinó de qué manera los fans vienen a ser una audiencia activa que produce nuevo contenido a partir de apropiarse de la obra original y resignificarla.
