Sin embargo, parece claro que uno de los móviles más importantes que inspiraba esta gran rebelión indígena y que formaba el trasfondo de todas las acciones de José Gabriel Condorcanqui fue un fuerte sentimiento mesiánico, donde se mezclaban y se confundían elementos incaicos con elementos cristianos.
