| Sumario: | Perhaps one of the most neglected topics in educational research in Peru—already neglected in itself—is non-formal education. We tend to forget that education is not provided solely by schools and teachers, but also by society through its media, its dominant discourses, and its cultural paradigms. Even more concerning, we often overlook—though this is not exclusive to the scientific community—that educating is, first and foremost, a responsibility that falls to parents. We immerse ourselves in statistics or ethnographies examining the impact of exotic variables on children’s academic performance or their attitudes at school, yet we engage with comparatively little literature on what works at home and what does not. |
