Of the sample, 83.9% (n = 146) were women, 58.6% (n = 102) were in the first year of study, 79.9% (n = 139) were single, 63.2% (n = 110) worked, 74.7% (n = 130) without children, 54.6% (n = 95) had a family member who practiced sports. Of the sample, 28.7% (n = 50) were overweight and 6.3% (n = 11) were obese. Regarding AF, 25.9% (n = 45) showed low physical activity, 31% (n = 54) moderate and 43.1% (n = 75) showed high level. The level of AF occurred in a greater proportion in the female sex (p = 0.041). Conclusions. In the present study, more than a third of the nursing students were overweight and more than half had insufficient physical activity, the low level of physical activity was mainly female. Materiales y métodos. El estudio fue descriptivo transversal. Participaron estudiantes de enfermería de una universidad privada del Norte de Lima. El exceso de peso se determinó mediante el índice de masa corporal y la actividad física (AF) mediante la versión corta del  cuestionario internacional de actividad física (IPAQ). Resultados. Participaron 174 estudiantes de ambos sexos con una edad media de 23,7 años (DE=6,9; mín. 16, máx. 58). De la muestra, el 83,9% (n=146) fueron mujeres, el 58,6% (n=102) cursaban el primer año de estudio, 79,9% (n=139) eran solteros, 63,2% (n=110) trabajaban, 74,7% (n=130) sin hijos, 54,6% (n=95) tenían algún miembro de la familia que practicaba deporte. De la muestra, el 28,7% (n=50) presentaba sobrepeso y el 6,3% (n=11) tenían obesidad. Respecto a la AF, el 25,9% (n=45) resultaron con actividad física baja, el 31% (n=54) moderada y el 43,1% (n=75) presento nivel alto. El nivel de AF se presentó en mayor proporción en el sexo femenino (p=0,041).Conclusiones. En el presente estudio, más de la tercera parte de los estudiantes de enfermería resultaron con exceso de peso y más de la mitad presentaron insuficiente actividad física, el nivel bajo de actividad física se presentó principalmente en el sexo femenino. Materiais e Métodos: Estudo descritivo transversal realizado com estudantes de enfermagem de uma universidade privada do norte de Lima. O excesso de peso foi determinado pelo índice de massa corporal (IMC) e a atividade física (AF) foi avaliada por meio da versão curta do Questionário Internacional de Atividade Física (IPAQ). Resultados: Participaram 174 estudantes de ambos os sexos, com idade média de 23,7 anos (DP = 6,9; intervalo: 16–58). Da amostra, 83,9% (n = 146) eram do sexo feminino, 58,6% (n = 102) cursavam o primeiro ano, 79,9% (n = 139) eram solteiros, 63,2% (n = 110) trabalhavam, 74,7% (n = 130) não tinham filhos e 54,6% (n = 95) tinham pelo menos um membro da família que praticava atividade esportiva. No total, 28,7% (n = 50) apresentaram sobrepeso e 6,3% (n = 11) obesidade. Quanto à atividade física, 25,9% (n = 45) apresentaram nível baixo, 31,0% (n = 54) nível moderado e 43,1% (n = 75) nível elevado. O nível de AF foi mais frequente no sexo feminino (p = 0,041). Conclusões: Neste estudo, mais de um terço dos estudantes de enfermagem apresentou excesso de peso e mais da metade apresentou atividade física insuficiente.
