Study searched for history of psychological, physical and sexual violence as well as sexual abuse during childhood. Time of violence and the relation between aggressor and the victim were identified. Data was processed with EpiInfo at the Campinas-Brasil University and Inppares. Results: Sixty-one per cent of the women interviewed accepted being victims of some type of violence, including emotional violence 54%, physical violence 32,2%, sexual violence 21, 1 % and childhood sexual violence 19, 1 %. Main aggressors were de current partner or the ex-husband, and the near family members were responsible for childhood sexual aggression. Conclusion: Gender violence is very frequent among women attended at reproductive health services. Problem detection is not difficult when the questionnaire used in this research is applied.Objetivo: Precisar la prevalecencia de la violencia basada en género entre las usuarias de los servicios de salud reproductiva y motivar a los profesionales de salud a detectar estos casos utilizando un cuestionario muy fácil de aplicar. Diseño: estudio descriptivo de corte transversal tipo encuesta. Material y Métodos: Doscientos noventaa y ocho usuarias de servicios de salud reproductiva en tres hospitales de Lima, entre mayo y julio de 2002. Se identificó el tiempo de violencia y la relación del autor de la agresión con la víctima. Los datos fueron procesados en EpiInfo en la Universidad de Campinas-Brasil y en Innpares. Resultados: Un total de 61% de las mujeres entrevistadas aceptó haber sido víctima de algún tipo de violencia, que incluyó violencia emocional 54% violencia física 32,2%, violencia sexual 21,1% y violencia sexual enla niñez 19,1%. La pareja actual o el ex esposo fueron los principales agresores, siendo los familiares cercanos los mayormente responsables de la agresión sexual en la niñez. Conclusión: La violencia de género es muy frecuente entre las mujeres que acuden a los servicios de salud reproductiva.
