It is concluded that breaking bad news is a frequent activity in medical professional practice but it is not generally taught.La comunicación de malas noticias es una habilidad clínica que todo médico debe poseer. En este estudio buscamos reconocer la manera en que los médicos residentes en un hospital nacional realizan la comunicación de malas noticias. Se encuestó a 19 residentes en un hospital público en el 2015. Se obtuvo que 100 % de los residentes no habían recibido ninguna capacitación sobre el tema a pesar que todos ellos habían dado alguna mala noticia en el último mes; 68,4 % reportaron tener sentimientos de frustración al dar malas noticias; 53,3 % de residentes reportaron que no había un lugar adecuado para dar malas noticias.
