Objective: To determine the profile at admission of Obstetrics students from a Peruvian public university. Material and methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study in 226 incoming obstetrics students 2018-2022 selected by stratified sampling. Demographic, sociocultural, economic, academic and psychological variables were investigated; A previously validated questionnaire (Aiken V 0.93) was applied through a Google Form. A descriptive analysis of the data was performed in SPSS version 26 software. Results: The majority were born (85,0%) and completed secondary education (88,9%) in Lima, fathers (46,9%) had secondary education and mothers had higher education (45,1%). 54,4% came from a simple nuclear family and 50,9% studied in private schools. 8,4% have a family income below a minimum wage and 23,9% study and work. The majority is in the upper third (70,4%), 18 years of age (29,2%), and 40,3% are fluent in English. 72,1% did not have as their first option to study obstetrics and 48,2% plan care work. 42,9% experienced violence, mainly psychological (35,4%). Conclusions: The demographic, sociocultural, economic, academic and psychological profile upon entry of Obstetrics students have relevant characteristics that must be considered by universities, at the beginning and during academic training. |

Material y métodos: Estudio descriptivo transversal en 226 estudiantes de obstetricia ingresantes 2018-2022 seleccionados por muestreo estratificado. Se indagaron variables demográficas, socioculturales, económicas, académicas y psicológicas; se aplicó un cuestionario previamente validado (V Aiken 0,93), a través de un formulario de Google Form. Se realizó un análisis descriptivo de los datos en el software SPSS versión 26. Resultados: El 85% y el 88,9% nació y culminó la secundaria en la ciudad de Lima respectivamente, los padres (46,9%) tuvieron secundaria y las madres educación superior (45,1%). El 54,4% proviene de familia nuclear simple y 50,9% estudió en colegios privados. El 8,4% tiene ingreso económico familiar menor a un sueldo mínimo y 23,9% estudia y trabaja. La mayoría es tercio superior (70,4%), edad de ingreso 18 años (29,2%), 40,3% domina inglés. El 72,1% no tuvo como primera opción estudiar Obstetricia y 48,2% proyecta trabajo asistencial. El 42,9% experimentó violencia, principalmente psicológica (35,4%). Conclusiones: El perfil demográfico, sociocultural, económico, académico y psicológico al ingreso de los estudiantes de Obstetricia tienen características relevantes que deben ser tomados en cuenta por las universidades, al inicio y durante la formación académica.Objetivo: Determinar o perfil de admissão dos estudantes de Obstetrícia de uma universidade pública peruana. Material e métodos: Estudo descritivo transversal em 226 estudantes ingressantes de obstetrícia 2018-2022 selecionados por amostragem estratificada. Foram investigadas variáveis demográficas, socioculturais, econômicas, acadêmicas e psicológicas; Foi aplicado um questionário previamente validado (Aiken V 0,93) por meio de um Formulário Google. A análise descritiva dos dados foi realizada no software SPSS versão 26. Resultados: A maioria nasceu (85,0%) e completou o ensino médio (88,9%) em Lima, os pais (46,9%) tinham ensino médio e as mães tinham ensino superior (45,1%). 54,4% eram oriundos de família nuclear simples e 50,9% estudavam em escolas particulares. 8,4% têm renda familiar inferior a um salário mínimo e 23,9% estudam e trabalham. A maioria está no terço superior (70,4%), tem 18 anos (29,2%) e 40,3% são fluentes em inglês. 72,1% não tiveram como primeira opção estudar obstetrícia e 48,2% planejar o trabalho assistencial. 42,9% sofreram violência, principalmente psicológica (35,4%).
