Three clinical examples illustrate the theoretical work.El artículo comienza con una breve referencia a los aspectos concientes e inconcientes del psiquismo humano y el rol que éstos desempeñan ante una perturbación o desorden psíquico. Ante el énfasis que se suele dar a los aspectos inconcientes, el autor se interroga sobre la función que le corresponde al CONCIENTE en el trabajo psicoterapéutico, para lo cual se revisan algunos elementos fundamentales de la Terapia Racional Emotiva (RET) planteada por Albert Ellis. A continuación se expone una alternativa de trabajo en la que se combinan los enfoques directivo y propiamente psicoanalítico.
