Far from compromising the existence of knowledge, correct and incorrect, rational and nonrational ideas, however. the said old way of thinking is simply incapable of representing the cognitive achievements that we actually have. This paper discusses a contemporary way of approaching the difference between ideas of high and low descriptive quality in terms of epistemological criteria that prevail in the most rigorous and reliable scientific practices.Según un viejo modo de pensar, la objetividad de una propuesta queda seriamente comprometida si, a cualquier nivel, ésta resulta problemática con respecto a la verdad o depende de teorías de cualquier tipo. Ningún discurso creíble satisface semejantes restricciones. Esto no afecta sin embargo, la existencia de logros como el conocimiento, las ideas correctas e incorrectas, racionales y no racionales. Simplemente, el mencionado modo de pensar es incapaz de representar los éxitos cognitivos que de hecho logramos. Mi objetivo en este trabajo es discutir un modo contemporáneo de abordar la diferencia entre ideas de alta y baja calidad descriptiva.
