Statistical results with t-student and r-Pearson show that prisoners that have not yet been jugded, that have less time in the institution and that are older and with higher instruccional level show a higher mistrust in human benevolence. Results are discussed.Con una versión de la Escala de Creencia en la Benevolencia Humana, de Thomton y Kline (1982), 60 internos del Establecimiento Penitenciario "San Jorge" de Lima son evaluados para establecer si la creencia en la Benevolencia Humana varía en función del tipo de delito cometido, la condición jurídica, el tiempo de internamiento acumulado, la edad y el grado de instrucción. Los análisis estadísticos con la t de student y la r de Pearson muestran que, los internos que todavía no han sido sentenciados, los que tienen menor tiempo acumulado de internamiento, los de mayor edad y nivel de instrucción son los que evidencian mayor desconfianza en la benevolencia humana.
