The effects of different concentrations of an aqueous extract of Huaca (Clibadium surinamense) to control Monalonion dissimulatum in a cocoa plantation (Theobroma cacao) were evaluated. Extracts from C. surinamense leaves were evaluated at concentrations of 0 %, 5 %, 15 % and 30 %. The severity of fruit damage was evaluated with slightly modified Donis scale (1988), considering five degrees of attack. We used a Randomized Complete Design (RCD) with 4 treatments and 12 replicates, resulting in 48 experimental units. The aqueous extracts of C. surinamense at 15 % and 30 % caused a higher percentage of mortality of M. dissimulatum in the nymphal and adult stages. For attack degree 1, treatments with 5 %, 15 % and 30 % aqueous extracts of C. surinamense showed a significant increase in the number of unstuck cobs. As for attack degrees 2 and 3, all the treatments presented a significant reduction in the number of affected cobs. However, for attack degrees 4 and 5 the concentrations of 15 % and 30 % did not result in any affected cobs.Experimentos con extractos vegetales para el control de plagas se han tornado promisorios debido a que son económicamente viables y sustentables. Fueron evaluados el efecto de diferentes concentraciones de extracto acuoso de huaca (Clibadium surinamense) en el control de Monalonion dissimulatum en una plantación de cacao (Theobroma cacao). Se evaluaron extractos a partir de hojas de C. surinamense en concentraciones de 0 %, 5 %, 15 % y 30 %. La severidad del daño a las mazorcas se evaluó con la escala de Donis (1988) ligeramente modificada, considerando cinco grados de daño. Se utilizó el Diseño Completamente al Azar (DCA), con 4 tratamientos, 12 repeticiones, 48 unidades experimentales. Los extractos acuosos de C. surinamense a 15 % y 30 % ocasionaron mayor porcentaje de mortalidad de M. dissimulatum en los estadios ninfa y adulto. Para el grado de daño 1, los tratamientos con 5 %, 15 % y 30 % de extracto acuoso de C. surinamense mostraron un aumento significativo en el número de mazorcas sin piquetes. En cuanto al grado de daño 2 y 3, todos los tratamientos presentaron una reducción significativa en el número de mazorcas afectadas.
