A quasi-experimental design was used and we worked with a sample of 48 students, divided into a control group and an experimental group. A pretest and a posttest were applied to measure academic performance in mathematics and the mathematical reasoning program was applied to the experimental group for three months. The results showed a significant increase in academic performance in mathematics in the experimental group compared to the control group, demonstrating the effectiveness of the mathematical reasoning program in improving academic performance in this area.La presente investigación tiene como objetivo evaluar el impacto de la aplicación de un programa de razonamiento matemático en el rendimiento académico de los estudiantes del primer grado de educación secundaria de una institución educativa pública de San Juan de Lurigancho. Se utilizó un diseño cuasi experimental y se trabajó con una muestra de 48 estudiantes, divididos en un grupo control y un grupo experimental. Se aplicó un pretest y un postest para medir el rendimiento académico en matemáticas y se aplicó el programa de razonamiento matemático al grupo experimental durante tres meses.
