description In Latin America and the Caribbean, the population of people over 60 years of age is increasing and with it their needs, social and health demands. The aging of the organism in man is a natural process, characterized by being universal, irreversible, and inevitable; In addition, this process is multifactorial (biological, psycho-spiritual, social), of all these factors the main one is the biological factor. Aging is highly influenced by the effects of environmental conditions, lifestyle and diseases that alter the structure and management of certain systems, increasing their vulnerability to disease; on many occasions, aging stops due to the presence of of death. Research on aging in our society is becoming relevant, therefore, we must have an active role in the search for new ways to intervene and understand this new and long stage of life, as well as join and contribute to the new institutions created for older adults who have an important role in the development of innovation of new effective and relevant roles for old age. Objective: For this reason, this article is based on describing therapies in relation to improving the quality of life of the geriatric patient, evaluating the physical activities that are favorable, and identifying the type of psychological therapy that has the best results for successful aging. Methodology: In the search for said information, various therapies were found that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: It was evidenced that within the physical therapies, geronto-gymnastics has a higher rate of improvement in the quality of life of the elderly, as well as dance-therapy and music-therapy, for which reason it was possible to make comparisons between them. Conclusion: Within this study, various therapies for the elderly were found, such as: Hatha yoga, dance-therapy, music-therapy, laughter-therapy, recreational activities, companionship with animals, social participation, gerontology-gymnastics and aerobic exercise. Finally, dance-therapy was the one that merged both activities, because it helped to strengthen the musculoskeletal system and contributed to improving the mood and together with it to eradicate depression.

Finally, dance-therapy was the one that merged both activities, because it helped to strengthen the musculoskeletal system and contributed to improving the mood and together with it to eradicate depression. Fundación Instituto Hipólito Unanue2023-11-23info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://revistadiagnostico.fihu.org.pe/index.php/diagnostico/article/view/48410.33734/diagnostico.v62i4.484Diagnóstico; Vol. 62 No. 4 (2023); e484Diagnostico; Vol. 62 Núm. 4 (2023); e4841018-28882709-795110.33734/diagnostico.v62i4reponame:Diagnósticoinstname:Fundación Instituto Hipólito Unanueinstacron:FIHUspahttps://revistadiagnostico.fihu.org.pe/index.php/diagnostico/article/view/484/468Derechos de autor 2023 Lucero Delgado-Angulo, Marlitt Vidal-Valle, Jesús Rojas-Jaimes, Luis Castañeda-Pelaezhttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessoai:revistadiagnostico.fihu.org.pe:article/4842024-02-18T02:07:14Z
