Se seleccionaron una cantidad de fragmentos de cerámica de diferentes tipos y contextos para el análisis macroscópico inicial, y de estas una selección más reducida para cortar láminas delgadas para el análisis bajo microscopio petrográfico. Se pudieron asignar procedencias generales a los fragmentos, y se observaron patrones en la variabilidad de composición de las pastas. La cerámica del sector residencia del sitio arqueológico mostró mucha menos variabilidad que la cerámica del sector ceremonial. Adicionalmente, la cerámica del sector residencial podría haber sido producido de los materiales del mismo valle, mientras la cerámica del sector ceremonial habría requerido el transporte o de los materiales o los productos acabados hacia el sitio, probablemente desde los lugares altos la región. Estos resultados apoyan a la perspectiva del centro ceremonial como receptor de peregrinos llevando ofrendas desde diferentes lugares, con el sector residencial local no siendo necesariamente partícipe en estas actividades o fuente de los objetivos ceremoniales.

The goal of the project was to analyze composition and determine provenance, in terms of raw materials sourcing, of ceramic materials from various contexts within the site to examine intra-site variability of pottery between contexts as well as possible evidence of interactions with other areas. This research encompassed the process of selecting fragments for thin-sectioning from a larger sample of sherds analyzed at the macroscopic level as well as the subsequent petrographic analysis of these samples.
