Esta investigación exploró esa posibilidad, con el objetivo de inducir experiencias sinestésicas visuales en personas sin la condición natural de sinestesia utilizando un estímulo auditivo. Además, se estudió la relación entre estas experiencias con la atención, medida mediante la prueba de la Red Atencional, que evalúa las redes de alerta, orientación y control ejecutivo. Participaron 42 personas (18 hombres y 24 mujeres) con edades entre 20 y 24 años (M = 22.4, DE = 2.07). No se encontraron diferencias significativas entre el grupo control y el grupo experimental en cuanto a la percepción de concurrencias visuales. Sin embargo, se observó una relación moderada y significativa entre la frecuencia de concurrencias visuales y la red de control ejecutivo, lo que sugiere un vínculo entre las percepciones multisensoriales y el procesamiento cognitivo superior a través de la regulación de la atención.

Although it has been considered a condition with a genetic basis, another perspective suggests that any person could experience synesthesia under certain conditions. This study explored this possibility, aiming to induce visual synesthetic experiences in individuals without the natural condition of synesthesia using auditory stimuli. Additionally, the relationship between these experiences and attention was examined, measured through the Attention Network Test, which evaluates the alerting, orienting, and executive control networks. Forty-two participants (18 men and 24 women), aged between 20 and 24 years (M = 22.4, SD = 2.07), took part in the study. No significant differences were found between the control and experimental groups in the perception of visual concurrents.
