Particularmente, el contexto peruano se ha caracterizado por una crisis de representatividad y polarización política, lo cual dificulta la participación ciudadana; no obstante, durante la pandemia por COVID- 19 y al finalizar el proceso electoral 2021, lasredes sociales ofrecieron espacios de comunicación que cobraron relevancia para la discusión y difusión sobre temas políticos. La muestra estuvo conformada por 160 jóvenes universitarios de Lima que poseíanuna cuenta activa en ambas redes sociales y cuyas edades se encontraban entre 18 y 30 años. En cuanto a los resultados, se encontraron asociaciones directas entre el compartir informaciónsobre cuestiones políticas en Facebook y Twitter, la eficacia política y la participación política juvenil. Específicamente, se encontró que las variables como el compartir esta información en dichas redes y la eficacia política interna pueden ser predictores de las diferentes formas de participación. Asimismo, la frecuencia con la que se utiliza una plataforma virtual y con la que se emplea la información observada, como tema de conversación, pueden predecir el que una persona decida compartir información sobre política en sus redes sociales. En conclusión, se reconoce que las plataformas como Facebook y Twitter ofrecen espacios de argumentación y difusión de contenido político, que pueden incrementar el sentido de eficacia y, a su vez, ambos elementos podrían fomentar una participación ciudadana activa en un régimen democrático.

Unfortunately, the peruvian context has been characterized by a crisis of representation and political polarization, which makes citizen participation difficult. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic and the end of the electoral processin 2021, social networks offered spaces for communication and discussion about politicsthat were interesting to explore. The sample consisted of 160 university students from Lima, who had an active account on both social networks and whose ages were between 18 and 30 years old. In general, results reveal direct associations between political information sharing on Facebook and Twitter, political efficacy and youth political participation. Specifically, it wasfound that variablessuch as politicalsharing on social networks and internal political efficacy can be predictors of the different types of participation. In addition, the use of a social network and the use of the observed information as a topic of conversation can predict that a person decide to share information about politic on their social medias.
