Resúmenes.6 páginasEn la Costa y margen oeste de la Cordillera Occidental del Perú Central, afloran rocas volcano-sedimentarias denominadas Grupo Casma (Trottereau y Ortiz, 1963; Myers, 1980; Guevara, 1980; Cobbing, 1981). Muchos de los afloramientos considerados como Grupo Casma de edad Albiano Cenomaniano hospedan depósitos minerales de sulfuros masivos volcanogénicos (SMV) de importancia económica, como Perú Bar, Palma, Cerro Lindo y Maria Teresa (Polliand et al., 2005). Dataciones por los métodos U-Pb de 69.71 y 40Ari”Ar de 67.6 Ma (Polliand et al., 2005; Noble et al., 2005 respectivamente) en las rocas anteriormente asumidas como Grupo Casma, permiten plantear una nueva estratigrafía e hipótesis de la evolución de las cuencas cretácicas en la Zona Costera y en el borde oeste de la Cordillera Occidental. Lo que se plantea, es que los yacimientos anteriormente mencionados estarían emplazados en rocas de edad Maestricthtiana-Daniana más no AlbianaCenomanina.
