Attitude towards research in health sciences and social sciences master's students

Objective. Determine the level of attitude toward scientific research and towards statistics in students of the masters of health sciences and social sciences, as well as the identification of their academic background. Materials and methods. A quantitative, observational, analytical and applied study was carried out. Results It was found that 70.5% of students are female, 57.6% if they have children, 98.5% study and work currently, 41.7% come from other private universities than the one from origin, 58 , 3% graduated under the thesis modality, 86.4% only have a bachelor's degree, 17.4% have done some scientific publication and 10.6% have made a publication in an indexed journal, students who more research carried out are those of the master's degree in social sciences (university teaching), 59.8% of all students have a favorable attitude towards scientific research and 62.9% of all students have a favorable attitude towards statistics , the students of the master's degree in social sciences (university teaching) presented better levels of favorable attitude toward scientific and statistical research compared to the master's degree in health sciences (health management) Conclusions: Master's students of health sciences and social sciences present a favorable attitude towards scientific research and towards statistics.Keywords: attitude, research, students, statistics.
Objetivos. Determinar el nivel de actitud hacia la investigación científica y hacia la estadística en estudiantes de las maestrías de ciencias de la salud y ciencias sociales, así como la identificación de sus antecedentes académicos. Materiales y métodos. Se realizó un estudio cuantitativo, observacional, analítico y aplicado. Resultados Se encontró que 70,5% de estudiantes son de sexo femenino, 57,6% si tiene hijos, el 98,5% estudia y trabaja actualmente, el 41,7% proviene de otras universidades privadas distintas a la de origen, 58,3% se graduó bajo la modalidad de tesis, el 86,4% sólo cuenta con grado académico bachiller, 17,4% ha realizado alguna publicación científica y el 10,6% ha realizado una publicación en alguna revista indizada, los alumnos que más investigación realizan son los de la maestría en ciencias sociales (docencia universitaria), el 59,8% de todos los estudiantes presenta una actitud favorable hacia la investigación científica y el 62,9% de todos los estudiantes presenta una actitud favorable hacia la estadística, los alumnos de la maestría en ciencias sociales (docencia universitaria) presentaron mejores niveles de actitud favorable hacia la investigación científica y estadística en comparación a la maestría en ciencias de la salud (gestión en salud) Conclusiones: Los estudiantes de maestría de ciencias de la salud y ciencias sociales presentan una actitud favorable hacia la investigación científica y hacia la estadística.Palabras clave: actitud, investigación, estudiantes, estadística.
