Sexuality and menopause in women over 39 years

OBJECTIVE: To determine the characteristics of sexuality in women over 39 years in a region of the Peruvian jungle. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Survey of 25 questions on sexuality, with multiple, anonymous and voluntary 145 women> 40 years specific alternatives. RESULTS: One hundred twenty women adequately resolved the survey. 18.3% were menopausal; 45.8% two years ago did not enjoy sex with your partner, which correlated with age> 60. Those who still liked sex were married or cohabiting and generally <50 years. Factors associated with not enjoy sex, were lack of desire and dyspareunia. 38.3% wanted their sex life was like before. There was a close relationship between lack of desire and the negative answer to this question (p <0.001). CONCLUSIONS: Women Lamas left to find sexual pleasure between 50 and 60 years. For the sexual life, the fact of menstruation was not associated with sexual pleasure. Who had adequate sexual life, they wanted to continue having a good sexuality, even more important factor than age.
OBJETIVO: Determinar las características de la sexualidad en mujeres mayores de 39 años en una región de la selva peruana. MATERIAL Y MÉTODOS: Encuesta de 25 preguntas sobre sexualidad, con alternativas puntuales múltiples, anónima y voluntaria a 145 mujeres > 40 años. RESULTADOS: Ciento veinte mujeres resolvieron adecuadamente la encuesta. El 18,3% era menopáusica; 45,8% hace dos años que no disfrutaba el sexo con su pareja, lo que se correlacionó con la edad > 60. Quienes todavía gustaban del sexo eran casadas o convivientes y generalmente < 50 años. Los factores asociados a no disfrutar del sexo, fueron falta de deseo y dispareunia. El 38,3% deseaba que su vida sexual fuera como antes. Hubo una estrecha relación entre la falta de deseo y la respuesta negativa a esta pregunta (p < 0,001). CONCLUSIONES: Las mujeres de Lamas dejaron de encontrar placer sexual entre los 50 y 60 años. Para la vida sexual, el hecho de menstruar no se asoció con el placer sexual. Quienes tuvieron una vida sexual adecuada, deseaban seguir teniendo una buena sexualidad, factor incluso más importante que la edad.
