The purpose of this study is to analyze the processes of migration and urbanization over time (1981-2007) in the Ucayali region and the socio demographic and economic impact of migrants, these are looking for opportunities, in order to increase their income and improve their standard of living. Ucayali region is a recipient of migrants with positive net migration. Pucallpa, capital of the region is a focus of attraction for immigrants arriving from the provinces, districts and villages and the surrounding departments, so much so that is facing problems of infrastructure and basic needs of migrant and native population.
El propósito del estudio es analizar los procesos migratorios y de urbanización a través del tiempo (1981-2007) en la región Ucayali y las repercusiones sociodemográficas y económicas de los migrantes; estos van en busca de oportunidades, es decir, con la finalidad de incrementar sus ingresos y mejorar su nivel de vida. Ucayali es una región receptora de migrantes con saldos migratorios positivos. Pucallpa, capital de la región, es un foco de atracción de inmigrantes que llegan de sus provincias, distritos y pueblos, así como de los departamentos aledaños; tal es así que está afrontado problemas de infraestructura y necesidades básicas de la población migrante y oriunda.
