This paper approaches educational research from a qualitative perspective of analysis. Teachers trying to implement an investigation in this field should use, at best, both conceptions of research: quantitative and qualitative. Evidently, this will depend on the scientific context, due to the fact that a great proportion of research in the educational field demands an adequate reaction to the reality. First, we analyze the problem of scientific progress in the educational field. Then, we analyze the application limitations of quantitative investigation in education; as well as the possibilities of qualitative research. Later, we carry out main procedures of qualitative investigation. Finally, we carry out a comparison of both research models.
Este artículo aborda la investigación educativa desde una perspectiva cualitativa de análisis. Cualquier docente que pretenda realizar una investigación en este campo debería emplear, en el mejor de los casos, ambas concepciones de investigación: la concepción cuantitativa y la concepción cualitativa. Evidentemente, ello dependerá del contexto científico, debido a que una gran proporción de investigaciones en el campo educativo exige una adecuación pertinente a la realidad concreta. En primer lugar, se analiza el problema del progreso científico en el ámbito educacional. Luego, se presentan las limitaciones de aplicación de la investigación cuantitativa en la educación; así como las posibilidades de la investigación cualitativa. A continuación, se explicitan los principales procedimientos de investigación cualitativa. Finalmente, se efectúa el contraste de ambos modelos de investigación.
