Chickens play an essential role in the global economy and household nutrition. The farming system, particularly extensive or backyard production, affects their productivity due to intestinal parasites, with Ascaridia galli being the most prevalent. Various active compounds are utilized to mitigate its impact; however, improper administration frequently leads to resistant parasites. In some instances, efficacy assessments are not conducted, leaving the effectiveness of different drugs uncertain. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical and controlled efficacy of levamisole in poultry experimentally infected with A. galli in Cajamarca, Peru. Thirty Gallus gallus domesticus chicks were experimentally infected with 210 embryonated A. galli eggs. After confirming established infection through weekly fecal egg counts, 20 birds with ≥ 100 EPG were selected and randomly assigned to control (n...

The efficacy in the control of coccidiosis of the anticoccidial combination of salinomycin / nicarbazin, supplied in the feed at a dose of 40 ppm, was evaluated through changes in productive parameters in broilers challenged experimentally with local strainsof coccidia and raised up to 42 days of age. Broilers of the Cobb Vantress 500 line (n=450) were distributed into three experimental groups with 6 repetitions of 25 birds each. G1: chicks not challenged and treated with the anticoccidial combination, G2: chicks challenged and treated with the anticoccidial combination, and G3: chicks challenged and untreated. Body weight, body weight gain, feed consumption, feed conversion index, European productive efficiency index and the viability were determined. Broilers of groups G2 and G3 were challenged at 14 days with 1 ml of coccidia inoculum containing sporulated oocysts of Eimeria acervuli...

A seroprevalence study on 5439 cattle from April to June 2007 was conducted based on a circumstantial diagnosis of two cases of bovine brucellosis in the district of Codo del Pozuzo, en the region of Huanuco. Two animals resulted positive to the Rose Bengal test but negative to the Complement Fixation test. The beta distribution using a simulation model showed a prevalence of 0.02% with a minimum interval of confidence of 0 and maximum of 0.06%.

In this research, the influence of the stiffness irregularity and the p-delta effect on the structural behavior of a reinforced concrete building is analyzed. The main objective is to determine the impact of the stiffness irregularity and the p-delta effect on the structural behavior in regular and irregular buildings. First, the linear dynamic analysis procedure is performed in order to determine the structural response in terms of drifts, shear force and moments per floor. Subsequently, we proceed with the nonlinear static analysis procedure to obtain the capacity curve of the structure. The post elastic stiffness and the overall ductility of the structure are determined from the capacity curve. Finally, a comparative analysis of the responses from the linear and nonlinear analysis is carried out to determine the percentage variation of the results. When analyzing the structures that c...
