OBJETIVES: To determine the pregnancy rate in a population of couples being treated for infertility or reproductive loss, the most common pathology in these couples and the time of the study or treatment that the woman came to conceive. DESIGN: Retrospective, observational, descriptive, clinical study. PLACE: Human Reproduction Unit of the Assistance Network Rebagliati, EsSalud, based university teaching. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We reviewed the medical histories of all the couples being treated for infertility or reproductive loss doctors Unit in 2004, determining their characteristics, factors related to the problem of reproduction, study and treatments carried out, pregnancies and time the study and treatment of the pregnancy occurred. RESULTS: In 2004, 564 new partners, of which 218 hatched, with a pregnancy rate of 38.6% were met. The factors involved in couples who conceive were rea...

Introduction: Freezing-unfreezing procedures are essential when hyperestimulation is followed by embryo overproduction; they lower costs and increase pregnancy rates per aspiration. Objectives: To present our experience with embryo freezing-unfreezing. Setting: Assisted Reproduction Medical Service and Laboratory, Clinica Ricardo Palma. Design: Clinical retrospective study. Biologic material: Embryos obtained by assisted fertilization. Interventions: Controlled ovarian hyperestimulation with short luteal phase, ova capture at 36 hours post hCG administration, classical in vitro fertilization or ICSI-transport, classical processes of embryo cryopreservation and unfreezing. Main outcome measures: Embryo survival in freezing-unfreezing process. Results: We started our study in October 2003. Number of cycles with frozen embryos during this period was 154; from these we unfroze only 58. Pregn...

OBJECTIVE: To review cases of endometriosis found at laparoscopy or laparotomy in women evaluated for infertility or recurrent abortion. DESIGN; Descriptive retrospective cross-sectional study. MATERIALS AND METHODS: 675 women with infertility or recurrent abortion underwent laparotomy or laparoscopy. PLACE: Human Reproduction Service National Hospital Edgardo Rebagliati Martins EsSalud. RESULTS: The prevalence of endometriosis was 47% (317 patients), being more frequent in women between 30 and 39 years. Endometriosis was minimal in seven cases (2.2%), mild in 101 (31.9%), moderate in 128 (40.4%) and severe in 81 cases (25.6%). In 38 cases one or more endometriosis was found. The most frequent location was posterior fornix, uterosacral ligament and the ovarian surface. It is also found in chronic salpingitis 26% (81 cases), with hydrosalpinges in 20 cases. They hatched 55 patients (17.4%...
