Chara globularis es un alga verde ampliamente distribuida, esta especie se caracteriza por su elevada biomasa. Sin embargo, se conoce poco del uso de este recurso a pesar que escasos estudios reportan su actividad contra los microorganismos. El objetivo fue determinar la composición fitoquímica de Chara globularis y la actividad antibacteriana del extracto etanólico frente a cepas bacterianas. Se realizó una marcha fitoquímica preliminar para determinar los grupos de metabolitos secundarios presentes en C. globularis, y los compuestos volátiles y ácidos grasos se analizaron por HS-SPME-GC-MS y GC-MS, respectivamente. El trabajo de investigación se realizó en el río Torococha de la ciudad de Juliaca, en los meses de enero, abril y agosto del 2012, en época de lluvia, intermedia y seca respectivamente.
